The Illinois Wesleyan volleyball team, led by Tyler Brown's 17 kills and 13 digs, shocked No. 8 nationally ranked Washington (Mo.), 21-25, 25-20, 25-16, 21-25, 15-12, at St. Louis on Wednesday.
Rachel Burkman added 11 kills and 14 digs for the Titans (1-3), who received 32 assists from Caitlin Meyer and 28 digs from Jessica McCall.
Kyleigh Block chipped in 19 assists, seven digs and eight kills for IWU while Maisy Bowden and Maddie Williams each had five blocks.
Washington (2-2) was outhit, .217 to .149.
Women's soccer wins: The IWU women's soccer team watched Cameron Hindel, Megan O'Neal and Cassie Leighman score unassisted goals during a 3-0 victory over Benedictine at Lisle.
The Titans (3-0) outshot their host, 19-3. IWU goalie Kelli McCarthy made two saves.
Men's soccer loses: Hayden Van Son's goal was all the offense visiting Benedictine needed to down IWU, 1-0.
The Eagles outshot the Titans, 13-11. Goalie Alex Ruckstaetter made five saves for IWU (0-2-1).
Women's soccer falls: Hawkeye Community College of Waterloo, Iowa, downed the host Heartland women, 4-0.
Jovanna Suarez had two goals while Brittany Honkomp and Kristi Mensen had one apiece. Keeper Jackie Robson had 18 saves for the Hawks (1-1).
Men's soccer loses: The Heartland men's soccer team lost to Hawkeye Community College, 4-3, despite outshooting its guest, 13-7.
Scoring for Heartland (3-2) were Matheus Giron, Angel Lopez and Matthew DeGroot.
Volleyball team falls: Greenville downed visiting Eureka College, 25-21, 32-30, 25-21. Anna Crank led the Red Devils with 15 kills while Meagan Hanney provided 19 assists and 12 digs.
