The Illinois State softball team rebounded from a 4-3 first game loss with a 5-1 win in the nightcap to earn a Missouri Valley Conference doubleheader split with Drake at Des Moines, Iowa.

Elizabeth Kay’s three-run shot in the top of the sixth inning, her 13th of the season, gave the Redbirds a 3-1 lead before Drake rallied with two in the sixth and one in the seventh to get the come-from-behind win. Jordan Birch (13-3) took the loss.

Megan Warner (12-6) held Drake (30-16, 16-2 MVC) to three hits while striking out seven in game two. Jhavon Hamilton drove in a pair of runs while Caiti Kopp and Sara Bradley each hit solo homers for ISU (29-14, 15-3).
