An angry group of Chicago area veterans turned out Sunday during the Bears-Packers NFL game to burn football jerseys in protest of the way NFL owners have responded to the long-simmering national anthem controversy, according to a report in the Chicago Tribune.

"We fought for your freedom, but our brothers and sisters did not lay down their lives so you could disrespect the flag or our country," said Joe Toma, who helped organize the jersey burning.
