BLOOMINGTON - The Bloomington Extreme announced the signing of four players Tuesday, including two Arena Football League veterans.
Defensive end Antonio Ficklin, a 6-foot-1, 275-pounder who played in college at San Jose State, was with the San Francisco 49ers for training camp in 2005 before playing for the Green Bay Blizzard. Ficklin played in the AFL for the Grand Rapids Rampage and the New York Dragons last year.
"Ficklin is a very versatile athlete who can play nose, end, linebacker and fullback," said Extreme coach Kenton Carr.
Defensive back Alphonso Roundtree, a 5-11, 190-pounder who played at Tulane University, has six years of professional experience in the Canadian Football League and with the AFL's Tampa Bay Storm. Roundtree spent training camp with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted rookie free agent in 1999.
"Roundtree is a tremendous cover guy who has an amazing knack for the ball when it is in the air," Carr said.
Defensive back B.J. Brown, a 6-foot, 185-pound Eastern Illinois product, joined the Extreme late last season after playing with the Sioux City Bandits.
Rookie Carvin Nash, a 6-4, 297-pound offensive lineman, played in college at Northwood University.
