BLOOMINGTON - Every Intercity high school will have representatives at the girls state tournament as the five schools qualified 10 players for next week's state meet in Mount Prospect.

Bloomington senior Tara Clemens advanced to the state tournament for the fourth straight year. She took the singles crown with a 6-0, 6-0 semifinal win over Normal West's Sarah Bonnett and a 6-4, 6-3 finals win over University High's Sienna Reuter.

The top four in singles and doubles advance to the state meet, which gets under way Thursday at 12 Chicago area sites.

Reuter also will be making a return trip to state along with U High's Amanda Lawler, who teamed with Annie Nord to take fourth in doubles.

Normal Community's Kristen Laird is on her way back to state, too, as she and Clair Connor won the doubles championship by topping Bloomington's Heide Mott and Melissa Carr 6-1, 6-4 in the finals.

Central Catholic's MacKenzie Kraft knocked off Bonnett in the third-place singles match, 7-5, 4-6, 6-0.

The Purple Raiders won the team title with 12 points, followed by U High (10) and NCHS (10).
