Former Illinois Wesleyan football player Keith Pogue has been named to replace Tom Shallenberger as head football coach at Mahomet-Seymour High School.
Pogue was an assistant coach the past 12 years under Shallenberger, who resigned after 16 years to become principal at Fisher.
"I'm pretty excited," said Pogue, who is also the Bulldogs' head track coach. "It's something I've wanted for a long time. We've got a great group of kids and a great program. It's a chance for me to try some things I have ideas about and continue the tradition we have at Mahomet-Seymour."
Pogue considers himself a "players' coach."
"I'm a person who wants to get to know kids and try to bring out the best in them in a positive way," he said. "We'll try to get a group of guys who respect each other and have as much success as they can each season."
