FYI: Central Catholic has won the last four games in this series, including a 19-7 victory last year. … The Saints won their 30th straight season opener last week, blanking Prairie Central 33-0. … Quarterback Adam Rebholz sat out a week ago because of a one-game disciplinary suspension but is expected to play tonight. … U High opened the Dusty Burk coaching era on a high note last week with a 27-8 victory at Eureka. Leading the way for the Pioneers was senior tailback Will Brucker, who rushed for 164 yards and three touchdowns.

FYI: West tries to bounce back in its home opener after starting with a 30-10 loss to Champaign Central. Senior tailback Darius Bell gained 175 yards rushing in the defeat. … The Wildcats will be without senior wide receiver/defensive back Shauntrell Manney, who suffered a broken leg in the first quarter and is probably lost for the season. He will be replaced both ways by Keith Hitchcock. … West has beaten Eisenhower five straight years, including a 49-0 victory in 2007. Eisenhower lost its opener to Champaign Centennial, 42-12. … West's defense will have to be ready for the A-11 offense, a new trend where six receivers and two quarterbacks are utilized and all 11 players are potentially eligible. New Eisenhower coach Rick Austin ran it for a of couple series in the second half last week.

FYI: Normal Community seeks its 25th straight regular season and Big 12 Conference victory. The Ironmen ushered in the Wes Temples coaching era last week by routing Urbana, 56-14, as junior Travis Mullen rushed for 151 yards and four touchdowns. … BHS is trying to avoid starting the season 0-2 for the first time since 1996. The Purple Raiders lost a 20-0 halftime lead in a 34-27 double overtime loss at Danville last week. … BHS, which has lost three straight years to NCHS in the Intercity Doubleheader, is playing without four suspended starters. … Derrick Simmons, who gained 98 yards rushing last week, has not been able to practice because of a deep bruise to his leg and is questionable. Junior tight end/defensive end James Wimp, who didn't start last week because of an ankle injury, should be ready.
