EFFINGHAM - Valerie Nichol dominated the service line, gaining 17 service points to lead University High to a 25-10, 25-8 win over Stewardson-Strasburg in the 24-team Crossroads Classic on Friday at Effingham.

Ashlee Sang guided the defense by providing 11 digs.

The Pioneers (5-1) defeated Hermann High School of Missouri by scores of 25-22 and 25-19 in their second match. Nichol and Jordan Bond each had 10 kills. Setter Maggie Bee recorded 15 assists.
