Zimmer scores 46 points in Delavan victory: Delavan’s Brady Zimmer exploded for 46 points to lead the Panthers to a 73-54 win over Hartsburg-Emden in the Athens Tournament at Athens on Friday.
Zimmer had 17 points in the second quarter, when the 6-foot-4 guard hit his only 3-pointer of the game, to help Delavan to a 37-25 halftime lead. Zimmer’s point total set an Athens Tournament record.
Kelly Wass added 16 points for Delavan (3-1) as the Panthers won their third straight game in the five-day tournament.
Jordan West scored 18 points, including a pair of 3-pointers, to lead Hartem (0-3).
Eureka 74, Midland 64: The Hornets outscored Midland 20-10 in the third quarter to pull away for a season-opening victory at the IVC Tournament at Chillicothe.
Kyle Fellner led the Hornets with 19 points while Ryan Scheid added 14 and Tyler Facker 13.
Pontiac 68, Chicago Dyett 49: Adam Casson had nine of his team-high 19 points in the third quarter when the Indians stretched their lead to its biggest point as Pontiac went one to its first victory of the season at the Ottawa Tournament.
The Indians (1-1) were 15 of 19 from the free throw line.
Dwight 60, Ridgeview 30: Jens Kennedy netted a game-high 19 points and Nolan Hoffman added 10 as Dwight (3-0) remained unbeaten in its own Thanksgiving Tourney with a victory at Dwight. Shawn Maffett led Ridgeview (1-1) with 10 points, Dana Bose had eight for the Mustangs, who trailed 29-15 at halftime.
Flanagan-Cornell 63, Paw Paw 40: Nick Bertsche scored a game-high 20 points and Dan Mays added 15 as Flanagan-Cornell won in the Woodland Tourney at South Streator. The Falcons took command early, building leads of 22-7 after one quarter and 34-15 by halftime.
Woodland 53, DePue 21: Matt Hays led three Woodland players in double figures with 17 points as the host school ran past DePue at the Woodland tourney. Lucas Skul and Connor Kaminke had 11 points each for the Warriors, who led 23-11 at halftime.
Dee-Mack 62, Peoria Heights 38: Matt Krause scored 17 points and David Weed added 13 to lead Deer Creek-Mackinaw over the host team in the Peoria Heights Thanksgiving Tournament.
The Chiefs led 30-25 at halftime before outscoring Peoria Heights 18-5 in the third quarter to take control.
CPCI 50, Clifton Central 39 (OT): CPCI hit 11 of 16 free throws in overtime while holding Clifton Central to just one basket in the extra session to register a victory in the PBL/Clifton Central Classic at Clifton.
Reed Anderson led CPCI with 15 points, while Cole Hasselbring had 12 and Harrison Seggebruch 11.
Tri-Point 56, Prairie Central 55: Drew Wilkerson sank two free throws with 2.1 seconds left to lift Tri-Point past Prairie Central in action at the Gibson City Thanksgiving Tourney. Wilkerson finished with 11 points while Danny Olson had a game-high 21 points for the Chargers, who advance to the tourney title game.
Jordan Pilfrim paced Prairie Central with 18 points while Josh Fields added 17. Ross Taylor had 10 points for the Hawks.
GCMS 46, Coal City 44: Austin Borton had 13 points and Cody Gaesser added 11 as Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley edged Coal City in action at the Gibson City Tourney. Tyler Buhs had nine points for the Falcons, who led 36-33 after three quarters.
Blue Ridge 60, Mount Pulaski 55: Jack Plunk scored 17 points and Cody Warren added 11 as Blue Ridge beat Mount Pulaski at Gibson City.
Tanner Trent chipped in 10 points for Knights. Mount Pulaski was led by Mitch Litterly’s game-high 20 points.
PBL 65, Tri-Valley 54: Dylan Overstreet tossed in 25 points and Connor Allen added 20 as PBL (3-0) earned a berth in the championship game of the Interstate Classic with a win over Tri-Valley at Paxton. The Panthers will face Manteno today for the tourney title. Gabriel Cripe paced Tri-Valley with 18 points.
Clinton 60, Armstrong 33: Colton Nixon netted a team-high 16 points as Clinton ran past Armstrong-Potomac in tourney action at Paxton. C.J. Bundy added 10 points while David Alwood and Aaron Ennis had eight apiece for the Maroons.
Iroquois West 58, Donovan 51: Colby Barham paced a balanced attack with 13 points as Iroquois West posted a victory in the Cornjerker Classic at Hoopeston. Kyle Pool added 12 points, Aaron Thomas chipped in with 11 points and 12 rebounds, and Brandon Fancher had 10 points for the Raiders, who led 34-27 at halftime.
Olympia 56, Tri-City 31: Spencer Pratt tossed in game-high 21 points and Clint Stroud added 13 as Olympia opened its season with a win over Buffalo Tri-City in first-round action of the Olympia Thanksgiving Classic at Stanford. The Spartans raced to leads of 18-9 after one quarter and 32-14 by halftime.
Heyworth 64, Roanoke-Benson 44: Spencer Campbell poured in a game-high 26 points to lead Heyworth (2-0) to victory in other first-round tourney action at Stanford. Zach Quinn and Lucas Omahana added 13 and 10 points, respectively, for the Hornets, who used a 16-4 scoring binge in the third quarter to grab a 45-34 lead.
Kirby Wagner led Roanoke-Benson with 24 points, half of those coming in the fourth quarter. Jordan Hodel had 10 points for the Rockets.
