PEORIA — Junior Blake Foster sparked the Normal Community High School offense with four first-half 3-pointers Friday night and the Ironmen defense did the rest in a 41-27 Big 12 Conference victory over Peoria Notre Dame.
Foster's long-range accuracy helped NCHS (13-2, 4-1) scratch out a 19-12 halftime lead. The Class 4A No. 9-ranked Ironmen held Notre Dame to single digits in each quarter while earning their 10th straight win.
C.J. Wilbourn added nine points and C.J. Christian eight for NCHS, which led 33-19 after three quarters. Connor Dillon led Peoria Notre Dame (8-10, 1-4) with nine points.
"We were having a hard time scoring and Blake (Foster) came in and hit two 3-pointers in each of the first two quarters," NCHS coach Dave Witzig said. "That was a big lift for us.
"To start the third quarter we had a nice run. I thought our defense was good. Notre Dame plays a ton of 1-2-2 zone and it was a low-possession, physical Big 12 game. It was tough to score tonight, but our defense did a great job of not giving them open looks."
NCHS travels to Rockton this weekend for the MLK Classic, playing two games each on Saturday and Monday.
