MAHOMET — The Normal West High School basketball team outscored Mahomet-Seymour in every quarter Tuesday en route to a 75-50 nonconference road victory.
Junior Francis Okoro finished with 27 points, 15 rebounds and two blocks for the Wildcats, who improved to 20-5 and are tied at No. 5 in the Class 4A state rankings.
Shea Cupples added 15 points on 5 of 8 shooting from 3-point range and Nate Duckworth had 11 points for West.
"It was a great four quarters we finally put together," West coach Brian Cupples said. "It was nice to do that."
Tied for fifth in the state Class 4A rankings, the Wildcats won their 20th game of the season against five losses.
West, which had 23 assists to only six turnovers, led just 20-17 after one quarter but extended that advantage to 37-27 entering halftime.
"They hit some tough shots. They had three 3s in that (first) quarter," Coach Cupples said. "The rest of the way defensively we were good and offensively really good. We had great distribution and unselfishness with the ball."
Cory Noe led Mahomet-Seymour with 23 points.
