Kansas-recruit Zachery Bradford of Bloomington High School pole vaulted 17 feet, 8 inches Saturday at the Reno Pole Vault Summit in Nevada, setting Illinois' all-time record indoors.
His mark also surpasses his outdoor Illinois record of 17-4 set in 2016.
Only five U.S. high schoolers have ever gone higher indoors.
Normal West 67, Bradley-Bourbonnais 55: Olivia Demosthenes scored 21 points and Whitney Bozarth 13 to power visiting Normal West (12-6) past Bradley-Bourbonnais (14-4). Tresoir Newson grabbed 10 rebounds for the Wildcats while Ayanna Gibbs had four steals.
The hosts, who were outscored 19-9 in the fourth quarter, received 23 points from Mikayla Brandon and 22 from Evey Evans.
Central Catholic 69, Central A&M 60: Lauren Shanks scored 27 points and had five steals as the Saints won in a game played at Eureka College. Bailey Coffman added 15 points, eight rebounds and three blocks for the Saints (16-4).
University High 50, Springfield Southeast 37: Addy Loeffler poured in 25 points to power visiting U High (5-15, 4-5) to a Central State Eight Conference win over Southeast (5-12, 3-7).
Chelsie Price grabbed a team-high eight rebounds for U High, which received nine assists from Kimmy Sendelbach. Jade King scored nine points for Southeast, which trailed 23-20 at halftime.
Bloomington 59, New Lenox Providence 50: Boomington (10-9) received 26 points and 14 rebounds from Ellie Weltha in a victory at the Galesburg MLK Tournament. Teammate Bett O'Neal added 15 points.
Ryann Ogarek and Allie Raymer led Providence (10-11) with 12 points each while Ashley Raymer added 11 and Lauren Knight 10.
Minooka 47, Bloomington 40: Weltha's 17 points and 10 rebounds were not enough as BHS lost its first game at Galesburg to Minooka (12-6).
U High 14th at New Trier: University High scored 75 points to finish 14th in the 16-team New Trier Trevian Relays at Winnetka where Stevenson won with 205.
Colton Stogner led the Pioneers by placed third in the 50 freestyle in 21.68. Teammate Harrison Fudge was fourth in the 100 breaststroke (1:01.03) and Anthony Williamson was fifth in the 500 freestyle (4:53.75).
BHS 10th at Burlington: Bloomington scored 90 points to place 10th in the 11-team Grayhound Invitational at Burlington, Iowa where Moline won with 456. The top BHS placer was Kendall Cross, who finished sixth in the 500-yard freestyle in 5:17.54. Teammate Robby Pratt was seventh in the 100 butterfly in 57.16.
Tremont 1st at U High: Tremont scored 172.5 points to win the 11-team George Girardi Invitational at University High. Lincoln was second (148.5), Olympia third (147.5), Heyworth fourth (132.5) and U High 11th (25).
Tremont was led by 160-pound champion Caleb Schwenk. Turks taking second were Chase Bishop (126), Tanner Finin (132), Jesse Pflederer (145) and Caiden Buster (170).
Heyworth champions were Levi Neuleib at 113, Gabe Spencer at 120 and Andrew Sims at 132. Ayden Vacca (106) was second for the Hornets.
Other area champions were Olympia's Keaton Fogler (220), Jake Mitchell (106) and Grant Kessinger (145), and Lincoln's Austin O'Donoghue (126).
Area runners-up were Olympia's Wesly Litwiller (120) and Lane Miller (152) along with Lincoln's Jake McCray (138) and Anthony Baker (195).
Normal West 6th at Mahomet: Normal West scored 371 points to finish sixth in the 20-team Mahomet-Seymour Invitational where Pontiac placed 15th (215). Naperville Central won with 617.
Normal West was led by fifth-placers Tyler Mackin (113), Aaron Shaw (120), Chad Lawyer (132) and Dustin Miller (138). Pontiac's top placer was Liam Melvin (220) in fifth.
BHS 7th at Illini Classic: Bloomington scored 100 points to finish seventh in the 18-team Lincoln-Way East Illini Classic where Washington won with 207.5. The Purple Raiders were led by third-placer Josiah Heinz (195). Ryan Gardner (126) and Chanse Ridgeway (145) both took fourth for BHS while Carson Oliger (113) was fifth.
Ridgeview 9th at Kewanee: Ridgeview scored 82 points to place ninth in the 17-team Brockman Invitational at Kewanee where Aurora Christian won with 253. Ridgeview's champions were Billy Tay at 106 and Coby Windle at 10. Teammate Colton Tay took third at 126.
NCHS 12th at Geneseo: Normal Community scored 61 points to finish 12th in the 17-team Geneseo Invitational. The Ironmen were led by fourth-placers Gabe Rivera (152) and Thaddeus Nartey (170).
Waukegan 60, Lincoln 57 OT: Waukegan outscored Lincoln in overtime, 4-1, to secure a victory at Lincoln. Isaiah Bowers led the Railsplitters (12-3) with 25 points and four rebounds.
Bryant Brown had 31 points and 10 rebounds for Waukegan, which trailed 43-30 entering the fourth quarter.
