Abby Feit scored 26 points Saturday as host the Normal Community High School girls basketball team opened the North-South Shootout with a 69-55 victory over Belleville East.
Kylee Schneringer added 15 points and Summer Stoewer totaled 13 with eight rebounds while Maya Wong distributed 10 assists for the Iron, No. 9 in the Class 4A state rankings.
B'Aunce Carter finished with 24 points to lead Belleville East, which trailed 42-30 at halftime.
NCHS 63, O'Fallon 39: The Iron finished the day by getting 18 from Stoewer and 16 from Feit in a victory over O'Fallon.
Wong passed out another eight assists and Feit collected eight boards as NCHS improved to 20-5 overall. Sydney Thurwalker topped O'Fallon with 11.
O'Fallon 65, Normal West 62: O'Fallon outscored West 18-12 in the third quarter to overtake the Wildcats in the North-South Shootout. Ayanna Gibbs led West with 14 points. Olivia Demosthenes and Jess Jacobs contributed 13 apiece.
Belleville East 68, Normal West 44: Jacobs scored 10 points for the Wildcats (13-9) with Whitney Bozarth and Gibbs adding eight each. Arie Sims had five rebounds.
Rochester 47, U High 46: Addy Loeffler had 12 points and Kimmy Sendelbach added 11 but the Pioneers dropped a one-point decision when their shot at the buzzer missed on the final day of the Central State Eight Tournament at Jacksonville.
Cheyenne Price grabbed nine rebounds and Sendelback registered five assists in the back-and-forth game for the Pioneers (9-16, 8-7). Rochester received 15 points from Havilyn Dulin and 13 from Jordan Handlin.
FCW 62, Fisher 42: Jadyn Mitchell scored 13 of her game-high 22 points and made all seven of her free throws in the fourth quarter to lead host Flanagan-Cornell-Woodland past Fisher in an HOIC game rescheduled from Jan. 11.
McKenna Roth added 16 points while Liberty Vollmer and Elise Kane chipped in 10 apiece for the Falcons. Becca Clanton paced Fisher with 20 while Alivia Spenard had 10.
Farmington 40, Dee-Mack 22: Jess Carithers' nine points topped the Chiefs in a nonconference loss at Farmington. Macie Sprague paced the Farmers' balanced attack with 10.
Lincoln 45, Morton 29: Isaiah Bowers netted 16 points to pace the Railsplitters in a Central Illinois Classic win at Lincoln. Isaac Dewberry and Ben Grunder added 10 points each for the Railers, who also received nine points and seven rebounds from Jermaine Hamlin.
Clinton 55, Warrensburg-Latham 37: Austin Baker scored 15 points to lead the way as the Maroons downed Warrensburg-Latham in the first round of the Central Illinois Conference Tournament play at Tuscola.
Austin Rauch added 13 and Seth Westfall 12 for Clinton (11-7), which advancecd to face Decatur St. Teresa in Tuesday's 7:30 p.m. second semifinal.
Clinton 7th in state: Clinton finished seventh in Class 1A in the IHSA Competitive State Dance Finals at Grossinger Motors Arena.
The Maroons scored an 87.44 to claim the spot among a field of 30 Class 1A schools that was pared to 12 for Saturday's final round of the two-day event. Highland captured its third straight Class 1A crown with a 95.08.
In Class 2A, Lake Zurich unseated four-time defending state champion Geneva for the title. Elmhurst York won the Class 3A crown.
U High wins sectional: University High's competitive cheerleading team captured the top spot in the co-ed division at Saturday's Limestone Sectional at Bartonville.
The Pioneers scored an 86.64 to take the title over runnerup Minooka (84.46) to advance to next weekend's state finals beginning Friday at Grossinger Motors Arena. Normal West scored an 81.41 to finish fifth and also advance.
Bloomington qualified for the finals with a fifth-place finish in the medium team division at the Waterloo Sectional.
Among area schools, Eureka and Dwight advanced to the state finals out of the small team division with a fourth and fifth-place finish, respectively, in the Limestone sectional.
