Eureka High School senior Tessa Leman was a unanimous selection on the Associated Press Girls Class 2A all-state basketball team released Thursday.
Leman, who also made the first team last year, received 100 points in voting by a statewide panel of sportswriters and broadcasters. The West Point recruit is the career scoring leader at Eureka and leads the fourth-ranked Hornets into Friday's 5:30 p.m. state semifinal game against Chicago Harlan at Redbird Arena.
Leman, who is averaging 19.9 points per game, was joined on the 2A first team by Anna Murray of Princeton, Matty Hawkins of Harrisburg, Sammi Matoush of Hillsboro and Baylee Clampitt of Ilini West. All are seniors except Matoush, a junior.
Among the 2A players receiving honorable mention was El Paso-Gridley senior Aubrey Staton.
The Class 1A first team was led by unanimous pick Jordan VanHyfte of Annawan, a senior headed to Arizona State. Also making the first unit was Notre Dame recruit Anaya Peoples of Danville Schlarman, which plays Friday in the 1A state semifinals at Redbird Arena.
Rounding out the 1A first team were seniors Hailey Chubb of Gallatin County, Lexi Loftus of LaMoille-Ohio and Emily Offenheiser of Stockton.
Mount Pulaski junior Skylar Hayes received 1A honorable mention.
