Lauren Turner and Colby Burt each scored 11 points to lead a balanced Olympia High School attack Monday night as the Spartans downed Peoria Christian, 43-30, in a Class 2A Regional quarterfinal at Tremont.

A 17-5 first-quarter lead helped the Spartans fend off a 20-point performance by Peoria Christian's Keseanna Watson. Seventh-seeded Olympia meets second-seeded El Paso-Gridley at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Tremont 34, Dee-Mack 21: Vanessa Ehnle scored 19 points to lead sixth-seeded Tremont past No. 9 seed Deer Creek-Mackinaw in the Class 2A Tremont Regional quarterfinals. Jess Carithers had 14 points for Dee-Mack. Tremont faces third-seeded Midwest Central at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Heyworth 58, Tri-Valley 29: Stephanie Brown scored 15 points to lead fifth-seeded Heyworth past No. 11 seed Tri-Valley in the Class 2A St. Thomas More Regional quarterfinal at Champaign. Libbie Kussmann had 11 points for Tri-Valley.

Heyworth meets No. 4 seed St. Thomas More at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Argenta-Oreana 49, Blue Ridge 41: Macy Baird scored 17 points as the No. 10 seeded Knights were eliminated by No. 9 Argenta-Oreana in the Class 2A St. Thomas More Regional.

Class 1A Regionals

LeRoy 37, Judah Christian 30: Danielle Hanshew scored 12 points to lead the seventh-seeded Panthers to a quarterfinal Class 1A regional win at Fisher. Molly White added nine points for the Panthers, who advanced to face top-seeded Ridgeview in the semifinals at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Fisher 38, Urbana Uni-High 14: The fifth-seeded Bunnies outscored No. 9 seed Uni-High 16-4 in the second quarter and cruised to the quarterfinal regional win. Fisher will square off with fourth-seeded Lexington in a 7:30 p.m. semifinal Wednesday.

Midland 47, Roanoke-Benson 37: Roanoke-Benson's season ended with a first round loss in the regional at Varna.


NCHS takes 2nd in Big 12: Led by victories from Christian Travis and Thomas Reedy, the Normal Community boys swim team placed second in the Big 12 Conference Meet at Peoria.

Travis won the 500-yard freestyle in 4 minutes, 56.34 seconds. Reedy had a winning time of 1:01.65 in the 100 breaststroke.

They paced NCHS to 226 1/2 points, second only to Peoria Notre Dame's 261 in the nine-team meet. Normal West was fourth with 183 points and Bloomington took seventh with 84.
