Junior forward Levi Scheuermann buried five 3-pointers and scored 38 points Friday night to lead Deer Creek-Mackinaw High School's basketball team to a 70-54 victory over Illini Bluffs in the Peoria Heights Thanksgiving Tournament.
Scheuermann scored 16 points in the first half to help the Chiefs stay within 31-29. Dee-Mack outscored Illini Bluffs 18-5 to open the second half and grab a 47-36 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
Dawson Jones, a senior forward, added 16 points for Dee-Mack.
El Paso-Gridley 74, Olympia 48: The Titans closed the first half with a 13-0 scoring run en route to the win in the EPG Thanksgiving Tournament.
Teron Fairchild led four EPG players in double figures with 14 points while grabbing a game-high eight rebounds. Trey Wilson had 19 points for Olympia.
Clinton 67, Villa Grove 37: Austin Rauch netted 16 points with Seth Westfall adding 15 as the Maroons claimed an easy win in the Cerro Gordo-Bement Turkey Tourney. Dalton Smith and Chase Reynolds also reached double figures with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Clinton 60, Urbana Uni-High 54: The Maroons won their third straight to open the season on the strength of 21 points from Rauch. Clinton outscored Uni-High 17-5 in the second quarter to overcome a 12-8 first period deficit and then held off a late Uni-High rally by sinking 5 of 7 free throws down the stretch.
Mahomet-Seymour 48, Lincoln 42: Cory Noe scored 25 points as Mahomet-Seymour rallied in the fourth quarter to beat Lincoln in the Eaton Corporation Tournament at Lincoln.
Isaiah Bowers led the Railsplitters, who led 33-31 after three quarters, with 12 points, while Ben Grunder and Isaac Dewberry added 10 each.
Oak Forest 58, Pontiac 43: Cam Dawson scored 14 points for Pontiac in a loss in the Dean Riley Shootin' The Rock Tournament at Ottawa. Oak Forest outscored the Indians 18-7 in the fourth quarter to pull away.
Marengo 61, Pontiac 54: Cam Dawson was 6-of-6 from the free throw and scored a game-high 17 points in the Dean Riley tourney loss at Ottawa.
Morton 55, NCHS 49: Tenley Dowell scored 26 points as three-time defending state champion Morton held off Normal Community in the Morton Invitational at Morton.
The Potters led by as many as 16 points in the fourth quarter before NCHS cut the margin to two. The Iron held Morton without a field goal over the final six minutes. Maya Wong scored 25 points to lead NCHS and also had eight rebounds.
Richwoods 63, NCHS 54: Peoria Richwoods jumped to a 16-6 first-quarter lead and went on to the victory over NCHS at the Morton Invitational.
Abby Feit scored 13 points, while Summer Stoewer and Hannah Johnson had 10 each for the Iron (4-2). Stoewer, Kylee Schneringer and Feit had five rebounds apiece, while Stoewer led in assists with three.
Illini West 41, Tremont 30: Baylee Clampitt's 18 points paced Illini West past Tremont at the Brimfield Tournament. Abby Scott had a team-high 10 points for Tremont (0-4).
