Normal West High School held Urbana to two points in the fourth quarter as the Wildcats pulled away for a 63-48 victory Thursday in a Big 12 Conference girls basketball game at Normal.

Olivia Demosthenes led West (11-6, 4-2 Big 12) with 16 points while Whitney Bozarth added 15. Tresoir Newson grabbed 14 rebounds for the Wildcats, who were tied at 46-all heading into the fourth quarter, and Jess Jacobs contributed 10 points and five assists.

Lauryn Cross scored a game-high 21 points for Urbana (4-11, 0-5), going over 1,000 points for her career.

U High 55, MacArthur 52: Addy Loeffler contributed 21 points and 12 rebounds as University High turned back Decatur MacArthur in a Central State Eight Conference game at Decatur.

Chelsie Price added 12 points for the Pioneers (4-14, 3-5), while Kassidy Patton had 11 points, 11 rebounds and six assists. MacArthur (11-7, 2-6), which trailed 43-30 heading into the fourth quarter, was led by Courtnee Riley with 13 points.

GCMS 50, Heyworth 49: Claire Retherford led all scorers with 15 points as Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley handed host Heyworth its first Heart of Illinois Conference loss. Megan Moody added 12 points for the Falcons (11-8, 7-3) who used a 20-9 fourth-quarter run to erase a 40-30 deficit.

Heyworth (16-3, 9-1) got 14 points from Shae Ruppert and 10 each from Stephanie Brown and Chassidy Hays.

LeRoy 34, Blue Ridge 14: Danielle Hanshew scored nine points as LeRoy took an HOIC victory at Farmer City. Elizabeth Bowns scored seven points to pace Blue Ridge (4-18).

St. Joseph-Ogden 47, Prairie Central 17: Elly Haberkorn scored seven points as the Hawks fell to St. Joseph-Ogden in Illini Prairie Conference action at St. Joseph. The Spartans got 16 points from Peyton Crowe and 15 from Bree Trimble.

Tuscola 46, Clinton 31: Tuscola (15-3) took a 15-2 lead after the first quarter and cruised to a Central Illinois Conference win over host Clinton. Alyssa Saulsberry and Madison Filkin led the Maroons (7-12) with seven points each.


LeRoy 81, Blue Ridge 21: Nick Perry scored a game-high 21 points as LeRoy rolled to a Heart of Illinois Conference win at Farmer City. Payne Mayfield added 13 for the Panthers who jumped out to a 21-3 first quarter lead.

Austin Winemiller had eight points to lead Blue Ridge.
