Freshman Katie Steinman sank a 3-pointer with 30 seconds left Monday night to give Central Catholic High School the lead and the Saints held on for a 50-48 Illini Prairie Conference girls basketball victory over Champaign St. Thomas More at Bloomington.
Lauren Shanks led Central (5-2, 1-0) with 17 points, seven assists and four steals. She also shared the team lead in rebounds with Bailey Coffman at five.
Coffman chipped in 10 points and Steinman nine.
Fieldcrest 54, Lexington 49: Madi Hock scored nine of her 17 points in the fourth quarter to lead Fieldcrest to the Heart of Illinois Conference victory at Lexington.
The Knights (5-2, 2-1) led 37-36 after three quarters before Hock sank two 3-pointers and went 3 of 4 at the free-throw line to help ice the win. Addie Goodrich added 13 points and Leah White 12 for Fieldcrest.
Lexington was paced by 14 points from Raelyn Payne. Skyler Friedmansky added 13 and Layken McGuire 11.
Heyworth 51, Blue Ridge 12: Amber Tomlin had 13 points and 12 steals as Heyworth rolled to the HOIC victory over Blue Ridge at DeLand.
Stephanie Brown added 11 points and eight assists for Heyworth (7-1, 3-0). Riley Ryburn scored 12 points, while Chassidy Hays had eight points and 12 rebounds. Blue Ridge fell to 1-7 overall.
GCMS 37, Tri-Valley 35: Megan Moody scored nine points, including four in the fourth quarter, and Claire Retherford added eight points as GCMS slipped past Tri-Valley in HOIC action at Gibson City.
Alaina Goff had a game-high 13 points for Tri-Valley.
Olympia 54, Calvary Christian 27: Chevy Wilkins, Kalleigh Harris and Colby Burt each scored 10 points in Olympia's nonconference win at Stanford. Freshman Rebecca Orns netted a game-high 12 points for Calvary.
Fisher 49, LeRoy 32: Sidney Hood scored 19 points with Becca Clanton adding 15 points and five rebounds in the Bunnies' Heart of Illinois Conference win at Fisher. Danielle Hanshew led LeRoy with 14 points.
Ridgeview 64, Flanagan-Cornell-Woodland 35: Mya Tinsley's 24 points propelled Ridgeview to a Heart of Illinois Conference win at Flanagan. Jadyn Mitchell had 24 points for FCW.
El Paso-Gridley 43, Deer Creek-Mackinaw 31: Aubrey Staton had 13 points and eight rebounds for EPG, which cruised to a 26-8 halftime lead. Cheyenne Carr added 11 points for the Titans. Jessica Carithers led Dee-Mack with 11 points.
Lincoln 49, Mount Zion 29: Kaelyn Froebe scored 14 points to pace Lincoln to the Apollo Conference win over visiting Mount Zion. Morgan Lolling and Emma Konczyk added 11 points each for the Railers.
Midwest Central 68, Mount Pulaski 36: Skylar Hayes had 19 points and six steals in the Hilltoppers' loss at Manito.
Calvary Christian 53, Donovan 30: Bryant Sturgill led Calvary with 23 points in the Knights win at Donovan. Isaac Orns added 11 points for Calvary.
