Class 1A

Eureka Regional

When: Saturday at Lower Lake Park — girls, 10 a.m.; boys, 11 a.m.

Area teams: Central Catholic, Clinton, Cornerstone Christian, El Paso-Gridley, Eureka, Deer Creek-Mackinaw, Heyworth, Olympia, Tremont, Tri-Valley.

Next: The top seven teams and top five individuals not on those teams and any individuals in the top eight advance to Oct. 28 Elmwood Sectional.

FYI: The top-ranked boys teams here include No. 6. Deer Creek-Mackinaw, No. 8 Monticello, No. 15 EPG, No. 17 Eureka and No. 20 Tremont. The top girls teams are No. 5 Monticello, No. 7 Eureka, No. 11 Decatur St. Teresa, No. 13 Olympia, No. 24 EPG and No. 25 Tremont. Look for Eureka's Emma Argo to be among the top girls. For the boys, Tremont's Leland Sumer should be near the front. 

Seneca Regional

When: Saturday at the Ag Lab — girls, 10 a.m.; boys, 11 a.m.

Area teams: Prairie Central, Pontiac, Fieldcrest, Gardner-Dwight, Lowpoint-Washburn-Roanoke-Benson.

Next: Teams advance to the Oct. 28 Oregon Sectional.

FYI: Prairie Central is led by two-time state qualifier Jake Maquet, a senior. Ranked boys teams here are No. 11 IVC and No. 18 Seneca.

Aledo Regional

When: Saturday at Hawthorne Ridge Golf Course — girls, 10 a.m.; boys, 11 a.m.

Area team: Delavan.

Next: Teams advance to the Oct. 28 Elmwood Sectional.

FYI: Delavan's top runner is Katie Springer, who placed fourth in the Amboy Invitational and seventh in the EPG Invitational.

Class 2A

Metamora Regional

When: Saturday at Black Partridge Park — girls, 10 a.m.; boys, 11 a.m.

Area teams: Bloomington, Lincoln, Normal West, University High.

Next: The top six teams and top five individuals not on those teams and any individuals in the top eight advance to the Oct. 28 U High Sectional.

FYI: The No. 1 U High boys and No. 2 Mahomet-Seymour help make this the state's toughest regional. Other ranked entrants are No. 8 BHS, No. 12 Normal West, No. 13 Metamora and No. 21 Washington. For the girls, Mahomet-Seymour is ranked No. 4 and U High No. 5. Other ranked entrants are No. 10 Washington and No. 18 Normal West. Stars to keep an eye on include U High's Jared Schuckman and Lyndsey Wolters. 

Crete-Monee Regional

When: Saturday — girls, 10 a.m.; boys, 11 a.m.

Area team: Streator.

Next: Qualifiers advance to the Oct. 28 U High Sectional. 

Class 3A

Minooka Regional

When: Saturday at Channahon Community Park — girls, 10 a.m.; boys, 11 a.m.

Area team: Normal Community.

Next: The top six teams and top five individuals not on those teams and any individuals in the top eight advance to the Oct. 28 Granite City Sectional.

FYI: In the Big 12 Conference Meet, Ajitesh Muppuru led the Ironmen boys while Alexa Thomsen paced the girls. Yorkville is favored to sweep the team titles with its No. 2-ranked girls and No. 18 boys. The Minooka girls are ranked No. 10 and Lockport No. 14.
