Class 1A

Farmington Regional

When: Saturday — girls, 10 a.m.; boys, 10:45 a.m.

Area teams: Central Catholic, Cornerstone Christian, Delavan, El Paso-Gridley, Eureka, Deer Creek-Mackinaw, Heyworth, Olympia, Tremont, Tri-Valley.

Next: The top seven teams and top five individuals not on those teams and any individuals in the top eight advance to Oct. 29 Elmwood Sectional.

FYI: The top-ranked girls teams here are No. 7 Olympia, No. 8 Eureka and No. 23 Elmwood. Look for Olympia's Shelby Siltman, Eureka's Emma Argo and Delavan's Katie Springer to be among the top girls. Ranked boys teams include No. 5 Elmwood, No. 9 Eureka, No. 10 Tremont, No. 13 Dee-Mack and No. 22 EPG. Expect Central Catholic's Adam Schlenker to be among the front runners.

Kankakee McNamara Regional

When: Saturday at Kankakee Community College — girls, 10 a.m.; boys, 11 a.m.

Area teams: Tri-Point, Prairie Central, Pontiac, Iroquois West, Gardner-Dwight.

FYI: Northern Illinois recruit Daly Galloway of Gardner-Dwight placed second in the 2014 and 2015 girls state meets after taking third as a freshman. Ranked teams here are the No. 4 Chicago Christian girls and the No. 24 Peotone boys.

Peru St. Bede Regional

Liberty Regional

Tuscola Regional

FYI: The No. 25 PBL boys are among four ranked teams here along with No. 5 St. Joseph-Ogden, No. 18 Monticello and No. 19 Champaign St. Thomas More. For the girls, St. Joseph-Ogden is ranked No. 1, Tolono Unity No. 3, Monticello No. 5 and St. Thomas More No. 17.

Carlinville Regional

When: Saturday at Loveless Park — girls, 10 a.m.; boys, 11 a.m.

Area team: Clinton.

FYI: Clinton's top runners are freshman Payne Turney for the girls and senior J.T. Harrold for the boys. Ranked boys teams here include No. 7 Carlinville and No. 8 Shelbyville. For the girls, Litchfield is ranked No. 11, Shelbyville No. 14 and Decatur St. Teresa No. 15.

Class 2A

University High Regional

When: Saturday at Maxwell Park — girls, 9 a.m.; boys, 10 a.m.

Area teams: Bloomington, Lincoln, Mahomet-Seymour, University High.

Next: The top six teams and top five individuals not on those teams and any individuals in the top eight advance to the Oct. 29 Metamora Sectional.

FYI: The Mahomet-Seymour boys, led by Corn Belt Conference champion Gabe Pommier, have been ranked No. 1 all season ahead of No. 2 U High, which is paced by Jack Franklin and Jared Schuckman. The Bulldogs, who are ranked No. 15 nationally, can afford to rest some first-stringers on Saturday if they choose. Other ranked entrants are No. 5 Metamora and No. 23 Morton. Ranked girls teams include No. 7 Metamora, No. 8 U High and No. 9 Mahomet-Seymour and No. 16 Washington. Expect to see Corn Belt champion Katy Clausen, a U High freshman, among the leaders.

Morris Regional

When: Saturday — girls, 10 a.m.; boys, 11 a.m.

Area team: Streator.

Next: Qualifiers advance to the Oc.t 29 Metamora Sectional. 

FYI: Streator's leaders are senior Charleen Mascote for the girls and junior Danny Rodriguez for the boys. The lone ranked team here is the No. 25 LaSalle-Peru boys.

Class 3A

Normal Community Regional

When: Saturday at Maxwell Park — girls, 11 a.m.; boys, 11:45 a.m.

Area team: Normal Community, Normal West.

Next: The top six teams and top five individuals not on those teams and any individuals in the top eight advance to the Oct. 29 Edwardsville Sectional.

FYI: The team leaders for the Normal West and NCHS girls are Big 12 runner-up Mara Smith and Big 12 eighth-placer Lauren Feldner, respectively. The Normal West boys are led by Big 12 runner-up Tyler Dunn. No. 2 Minooka and No. 3 Yorkville will battle for the girls team title while No. 20 Minooka is the boys favorite.
