Normal Community High School's soccer team remained undefeated in Big 12 Conference play with a 3-0 win over Bloomington at Community Fields on Thursday.

Josef Halcomb gave the Ironmen (8-2-2, 4-0-1) a 1-0 first-half lead off an assist from Michael Reibling. Halcomb went on to assist on a second-half goal by Nick Leming. Tyler Arias also scored.

Austin Woodside had four saves for the Ironmen. NCHS had 15 shots to four for the Purple Raiders (1-11-1, 0-4-1).

U High shuts out Dunlap: Nate Clay's two goals sparked University High (11-3) to a 3-0 victory over visiting Dunlap (6-2-5).

Also scoring was Cayden Redd. Assists came from J.D. Kelley, Jett Jenkins and Noah Klauss. Goalie Christian Lopez made six saves as his team outshot Dunlap, 16-6.

Central downs Tolono: Ben Holley scored twice to lead Central Catholic to a 3-0 win over host Tolono Unity.

Mael Kazigwa added a goal while Fabian Krause had two assists for the Saints (12-4), who trailed 1-0 before responding with three unanswered goals.

Goalkeeper J-C Micklich made three saves. Central outshot Tolono, 19-7.

Normal West ties Urbana: Jordan Walker's second-half goal off an assist from Delphy Sabu helped Normal West (9-4-1, 3-1-1) tie Big 12 Conference host Urbana, 1-1.

McCade Brown made seven saves for the Wildcats after each team took nine shots.

Cornerstone tips Calvary: With 30 seconds left, Cornerstone Christian's Brian Matipa scored off a corner kick from Clay Damkoehler to top host Calvary Christian, 1-0.

The Cyclones improved to 9-5-1 while the Knights fell to 5-5-1. Calvary goalie Jen Bender had 12 saves while his counterpart, Isaac Garey, had one.


NCHS rallies past PND: Normal Community improved to 9-0 while upping its Big 12 Conference mark to 4-0 with a 21-25, 25-23, 25-15 win over host Peoria Notre Dame.

Purdue-recruit Grace Cleveland controlled the net with 15 kills and three blocks while Jamie Vasilou dished out 30 assists. MaKenna Barnhart chipped in 10 digs and three aces for the Ironmen.

BHS stops Centennial: Corinna Jones had 26 assists and Leah Anderson eight kills for Bloomington (11-6, 4-0) in a 25-20, 25-12 at Champaign Centennial.

Bailey McGill added 11 digs for the Purple Raiders while Avery Carr and Ellie Weltha each had two blocks. Fia Parker chipped in 10 points.

West sweeps Manual: Megan Marshall registered seven kills and Leigha Bland delivered six aces to power Normal West to a 25-14, 25-5 victory at Peoria Manual. Dara Kane had seven assists for the Wildcats (7-6, 3-1).

Tri-Valley tops Fieldcrest: Iowa-recruit Hannah Clayton had 11 kills and 6½ blocks to power Tri-Valley (17-1, 6-0) to a 25-12, 25-12 victory over Fieldcrest (10-7, 3-3) at Minonk.

Ryleigh Warfel added 14 digs and three aces for the Vikings while Lauren Gilmore had 18 assists. Fieldcrest received six kills and six digs from Emma Petersen while Lexi Jochums added seven assists and one ace.

Heyworth tips Blue Ridge: Heyworth (11-7, 3-3) won 25-15, 12-25, 15-9 over Blue Ridge (18-4, 4-3) at Farmer City.

Blue Ridge was led by Avery Fisher's 18 assists and seven digs. Maddy Hopkins added 12 kills and Hannah Brackenhoff 25 digs.

Lexington prevails: Emma White registered 19 assists, 14 digs and seven service points to lead Lexington (13-4, 4-2) to a 25-15, 25-17 Heart of Illinois Conference win over Ridgeview at Colfax. Jayden Standish chipped in nine kills for the Minutemen.

Ridgeview got 22 digs from River Rosalos and five service points from Haleigh Beck.

Tremont tops LeRoy: Alli Ramlo provided 12 kills and Violet Thompson nine digs, 15 assists and three aces as Tremont (7-6, 2-4) claimed a 25-14, 19-25, 25-18 HOIC win over host LeRoy. Molly White had five kills and nine digs for LeRoy (2-12, 0-6).

Dee-Mack wins: Addy Gruse had six kills and a block while Morgan Burr contributed 11 assists to Deer Creek-Mackinaw's 25-10, 25-4 HOIC win over GCMS at Mackinaw. Carson Smalley added eight digs for the Chiefs (9-3, 6-0). Riley Tompkins had five digs for GCMS (4-13, 2-6).

Eureka cruises: Hailey Flowers notched 10 kills while Katie Morin recorded 17 service points, including six aces, as host Eureka (15-3, 6-0) posted a 25-12, 25-15 Heart of Illinois Conference win over Fisher.

Fisher (2-11, 0-6) got four assists from Cameron McGrew and five digs from Casey Wagner.

EPG downs Flanagan: Cheyenne Carr had 28 assists while leading host El Paso-Gridley (11-4, 5-1) to a 25-13, 25-19 victory over Flanagan-Cornell (9-8-1, 3-3).

Ashlyn Mool added 12 kills for EPG while Ashlyn Stone chipped in nine digs and nine service points. Flanagan-Cornell received 10 digs from Kylie Kindermann and seven assists from Liberty Vollmer.

Prairie Central wins league opener: Prairie Central won its inaugural Illini Prairie Conference match with a 25-14, 25-19 victory over Rantoul at Fairbury. Lindsey Hari had six kills for the Hawks (8-4, 1-0), who also received 20 assists from Merryn Krenz.

Olympia wins in three: Kalli Terrell had eight kills and 14 digs as Olympia rallied from a first-set loss for a 12-25, 25-15, 25-16 victory over Monticello at Stanford.

Kaelyn Leverson handed out 26 assists, Rose McManaman added nine kills and Emme Olson 14 assists for the Spartans.

Dwight falls to Cissna Park: Gabby Wessels had 13 kills and Anna Jennings 21 assists as Cissna Park topped Dwight, 25-10, 25-13 in a Sangamon Valley Conference match at Dwight. Karah Colebank had five assists and two kills for the host Trojans.

Clinton defeated: Madi Filkin had seven kills, eight assists and eight digs in host Clinton's 25-21, 25-9, loss to St. Teresa.


Prairie Central 2nd at Pontiac: In the 26th annual Pontiac Scramble at the Elks Club, Prairie Central lost a scorecard playoff to champion Dunlap after both teams shot 55 along with third-place Peoria Notre Dame.

Bloomington placed fourth (57) after winning a scorecard playoff over Normal Community (57). University High was sixth in the 15-team field.
