Erika Moore and Mallory Bergbower had eight and seven kills, respectively, to pace the Central Catholic High School volleyball team to a 25-21, 25-19 victory over Decatur St. Teresa at Bloomington on Tuesday.
Bergbower also had nine service points for the Saints, who received 22 assists from sophomore setter Kate Moorman-Wolfe and 13 digs from Emily Butt. Sarah Brady had two blocks for Central (3-0).
Normal West wins: Host Normal West improved to 1-2 with a 21-25, 25-18, 25-18 victory over Morton. Eastern Illinois-recruit Hannah Sieg led the Wildcats with seven kills and two blocks while Dara Kane provided 21 assists.
Sam Williams chipped in eight digs and five aces for the victors.
Pioneers top Eisenhower: Abbey Collins has seven kills to lead University High to a 25-14, 25-23 win over Decatur Eisenhower in Central State 8 action at Normal. Kimmy Sendelbach had nine digs for the Pioneers (3-1, 2-0) with Alexis Engst dishing out nine assists.
LeRoy prevails: LeRoy won, 25-7, 25-12, over host Cornerstone.
Flanagan downs Roanoke: Flanagan-Cornell's Liberty Vollmer had 12 assists while Kylie Kindermann chipped in 13 digs, two aces and 10 service points for Flanagan-Cornell in a 26-24, 25-16 victory over host Roanoke-Benson.
Rachel Harrison added five kills for the Falcons. Paige Sauder led the hosts with seven kills, seven assists and two blocks. Maddy Oltman and Brynn Rossman each had 12 digs for the Rockets.
Pontiac tops Streator: Camryn Feddern had five kills and Madi Mennenga 12 assists for Pontiac (1-3) in a 25-17, 25-11 victory over visiting Streator (2-6).
Taylor Hoskins had six assists and two kills for Streator. Emma Harris added six digs and two kills.
EPG downs Clinton: Cheyenne Carr had 22 assists, eight digs and a block to help El Paso-Gridley to a 26-24, 25-21 win over Clinton at El Paso. Ashlyn Mool added nine kills and seven service points for the Titans (2-0).
Madi Filkin had seven kills and Raymi Dial 10 digs for Clinton (0-1).
Calvary loses: Despite 12 digs and four kills by Rebecca Orns, Calvary Christian (1-6) lost to host Lowpoint-Washburn, 25-19, 25-22.
Olympia defeated: Dani Litwiller's nine kills and Kalli Terrell's eight weren't enough as Olympia (0-2) lost at Metamora, 23-25, 25-14, 25-12. Jaci Terrell had 15 assists for the Spartans while Emme Olsen had 18 digs.
Heyworth falls: Madison Quattro had five kills and seven digs, but Heyworth dropped a 25-11, 25-20 decision to visiting Maroa-Forsyth. Amber Tomlin contributed 11 assists and seven digs for the Hornets.
Dwight stumbles: Host Coal City downed Dwight, 25-21, 22-25, 25-23. The Trojans were led by Leah Flynn's 14 kills and five blocks. Teammate Karah Colebank provided 25 assists while Kayla Kodat had eight digs.
PBL tops GCMS: Kalista Klann had 13 assists and Katelyn Crabb nine digs as PBL defeated GCMS 25-11, 25-20 at Gibson City. Aubree Bruns had five kills for the Panthers (4-3). Madi Eberle had eight digs for GCMS (1-2).
Fisher falters: Cameron McGrew had a pair of kills, seven assists, a block and four digs, but Fisher was defeated by host Urbana Uni High, 21-25, 25-10, 25-22. Casey Wagner had 12 digs and four aces for the Bunnies.
Calvary Christian romps: Bryant Sturgill's four goals powered Calvary Christian (2-2) to a 5-1 victory at Mount Pulaski. Kelvin Kwan also scored for the Knights.
Calvary, which led 2-0 at halftime, received three assists from Hunter Goodwin and one apiece from Ryan Roberts and Kwan.
