ROCK ISLAND — Michael Reibling served up three assists and a goal to power the Normal Community High School soccer team to a 5-0 victory over Joliet West in the Class 3A Rock Island Sectional semifinals on Tuesday.

"He was relentless today," said NCHS coach Matt Chapman of Reibling. "He usually is. He was a huge spark for our team."

The Ironmen improved to 17-5-3 and will face Collinsville (17-7) in Friday's 5:30 p.m. final. The only previous sectional title in NCHS history came in 2014, when the Ironmen went on to finish second in the state.

Collinsville won 3-1 over Edwardsville (16-2-3), a team that had beaten the Ironmen, 1-0, on Sept. 23. Joliet West ended the season at 9-11-3.

"We moved the ball really well," Chapman said. "One thing that helped is we pressured well and we were in great position to pick up any errant passes and do something productive with them.

"We were in tune with each other. Guys were looking out for each other. We just really kind of put together a whole group effort."

Many NCHS goals came after two or three Ironmen made quick passes to each other.

"It will be fun to watch the tape to see how we created those goals," Chapman said.

Reibling's first assist set up a Josef Halcomb goal in the eighth minute. Griffin Bruso made it 2-0 off a Reibling assist eight minutes later.

In the second half, a Reibling assist preceded a goal by Tyler Arias in the 15th minute. Three minutes later, Reibling scored off a Halcomb assist.

Carson Oltman ended the scoring in the 25th minute off an Arias assist.

The Ironmen outshot Joliet West, 12-9, as goalie Austin Woodside made nine saves.

"Our back line and midfield had another strong defensive effort," Chapman said. "Austin Woodside was in command in goal. He held down the fort. Our backs did a tremendous job of keeping the play in front of them."
