INDIANAPOLIS — Normal Community High School senior Grace Ariola captured her second silver medal in as many days Friday by helping the USA mixed 400-meter freestyle relay to second place in the 6th FINA World Junior Swimming Championships.
Ariola also finished seventh in the 100 freestyle.
She swam the anchor leg on the silver medal-winning relay, posting a time of 54.90 seconds to help her team to a 3:28.78 clocking. She was joined on the relay by Daniel Krueger, Matthew Willenbring and Lucie Nordmann.
Canada took the gold medal in 3:26.65.
Ariola, a University of Texas recruit, placed seventh in the 100 freestyle with a time of 55.46. Great Britain's Freya Anderson won in 53.88.
Ariola is scheduled to compete in the 50 backstroke on Saturday and the 50 freestyle on Sunday.
