INDIANAPOLIS — Grace Ariola, a Normal Community High School student, advanced Saturday to Sunday's finals in the 50-meter backstroke at the 6th FINA World Junior Championships at Indianapolis.
A University of Texas recruit, Ariola sped 28.34 seconds to rank fourth among semifinalists. In the prelims earlier, she motored 28.55 to rank sixth. The top semifinalist was Canada's Jade Hannah at 28.04.
Ariola will also contest the 50 freestyle prelims and semifinals on Sunday. The meet ends on Monday.
