EVANSTON — Junior Noelle Peplowski of the Metamora co-op finished third in the 500-yard freestyle on Saturday during the Girls State Swim Meet.
Peplowski, the top qualifier from Friday, was timed in a season-best 4 minutes, 51.13 seconds, which ranks No. 2 on the Pantagraph area all-time list. Loyola's Ella Tierney took first (4:48.45), followed by Audrey Guyett of St. Charles North (4:50.97).
Two Normal Community juniors also were in the 500 final. Julia Oostman was eighth (5:00.87) for the second straight year, while Claire Koh placed 10th (5:01.32).
Peplowski also finished seventh in the 200 individual medley in 2:02.26, lowering her own Pantagraph area record. University High sophomore Lillian Culp took 10th (2:06.11).
NCHS freshman Julia Heimstead placed 10th in the 100 butterfly (56.67). Bloomington sophomore Macy Rink was 12th in the 200 freestyle (1:54.29).
