BLOOMINGTON - Bloomington PrairieThunder coach Jarrod Skalde continued to make roster moves Monday by obtaining veteran right winger Jan Jas from the Flint Generals in a trade for defenseman A.J. Bozoian and future considerations. | Parsons earns IHL honor | PrairieThunder page

The 6-foot, 190-pound Jas, an 11-year veteran from Presov, Slovakia, began this season with Kalamazoo of the International Hockey League. He had one goal and one assist in eight games with the Wings before going to Flint.

In eight games with Flint, the 30-year-old Jas scored four goals and had 14 assists with a plus-1 rating and 24 penalty minutes. The well-traveled Jas has also played in the ECHL, WPHL, the now-defunct UHL, CHL, the Austrian League and in Italy.

"We made the trade because it gave us the opportunity to upgrade our offense and acquire a veteran guy," Skalde said. "Jan's done a great job in Flint and he's a leader. It's something I think we had to do."

Skalde expects Jas to be in uniform for tonight's 6 o'clock game at Muskegon.

Bozoian joined the Thunder this season and played in 25 games, scoring two goals with seven assists, a plus-2 rating and 19 penalty minutes.

Skalde also announced that veteran defenseman Sam Miller, who ranked second in franchise history with 139 games played, has been waived.

Miller joined the Thunder in its first season in 2006-07 and holds the franchise record with 446 penalty minutes. Miller had one assist and a team-high 90 penalty minutes this season.

"Being a veteran, Sammy's in a tough situation," Skalde said. "Every time things have come up I've always found a way to keep Sammy here because of the way he competes. This was a way to bring in Jan Jas."

Injury update

Skalde said forwards Brett Holmberg and Travis Granbois, who are both suffering from post-concussion syndrome, will remain out of the lineup tonight.

Forward Jon Booras (leg), who has a team-high 34 points, will be evaluated at game time. Defenseman Geoff Patton (shoulder) will return to the lineup.
