CHICAGO - Hall of Fame catcher Carlton Fisk is returning to the Chicago White Sox as a team ambassador. He is going to be honored during "Welcome Back Carlton Fisk Night'' on May 22 at U.S. Cellular Field, the White Sox said Tuesday.

Fisk played for both the Boston Red Sox and White Sox.

During 13 seasons with Chicago, he hit .257 with 214 homers and 762 RBIs.

An 11-time All-Star and the 1972 AL Rookie of the Year with Boston, Fisk holds the major league record for games caught (2,226) and ranks second in home runs by a catcher (351).

The White Sox retired his No. 72 in 1997 and unveiled a sculpture in his honor in 2005.
