TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. — The Normal CornBelters downed the Traverse City BeachBums, 5-2, in Frontier League baseball action on Tuesday.

Normal (26-29) opened the scoring in the first inning when Santiago Chirino doubled and advanced on a passed ball before scoring on Nolan Meadows' single to right field. Chirino added a two-run triple in the ninth inning. 

Chad Gendron (1-1) got the win in relief of Scott Sebald. Shawn Blackwell picked up his ninth save.

After Traverse City (23-31) took a 2-1 lead in the second, the Belters tied it in the third after Yeixon Ruiz walked, stole second and took third on a fielder's choice before scoring on Aaron Dudley's sacrifice fly.

The Belters scored an unearned run in the top of the seventh when Diego Cedeno came home on Craig Lepre's ground out.
