NORMAL — Normal CornBelters veterans Santiago Chirino and Aaron Dudley have been selected to play in the Frontier League All-Star Game for the third time.

Chirino will start at shortstop and Dudley will serve as the starting first baseman for the West Division team in the contest that will be held July 12 in Joliet.

Dudley is second in the league batting race with a .369 average, third with a .480 on-base percentage and first with 18 doubles. Chirino is second in the league in hits with 64 and fourth with a .344 average.

Also in the West starting lineup is Normal West High School graduate Blake Brown, who is batting .306 with 10 home runs for Gateway.

Normal also will be represented by Craig Lepre, who will serve as a backup catcher, and relief pitcher Shawn Blackwell.

Lepre is batting .278, tops the league with 41 walks and is fourth in on-base percentage at .471.

Blackwell boasts a 4-1 record, a 2.22 ERA and has six saves.

Early start on 4th: Tuesday's Normal game against Washington at the Corn Crib will feature a 5:35 p.m. start. Gates open at 4:35 p.m.

The Belters are offering families or other groups four tickets for $17.76 as well as free parking. One dollar hot dogs and domestic beer also will be available.

Spectators are encouraged to watch the Town of Normal fireworks display from their Corn Crib seat or from the parking lot.
