BLOOMINGTON — Despite scoring three special teams goals on eight second-period shots, the Central Illinois Flying Aces could not maintain their lead Wednesday.

Jordan Timmons netted his second goal of the night with just over four minutes remaining, giving the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders a 4-3 victory before a crowd of 517 at Grossinger Motors Arena.

Drew Elser and Calen Kiefiuk each had a goal and an assist for the Aces, who slipped to 12-22-4. Wojciech Stachowiak had the other Central Illinois goal while Ryan Snowden made 30 saves.

Graham Slaggart also scored twice for the Riders (15-16-6), who got 28 saves from Jiri Patera.

Cedar Rapids put 18 shots on Snowden in the opening period, taking a 1-0 lead into the first intermission on Jordan Timmons' goal 4½ minutes into play. The Riders doubled the advantage when Slaggert scored off a Timmons assist one minute into the second.

But the Aces struck back when Stachowiak scored on a power play with 14:01 on the clock, with assists going to Brady Smith and Steven Agriogianis.

The Central Illinois power play struck again five minutes later as Elser netted the equalizer with Calen Kiefiuk notching his 15th assist of the season.

The duo then hooked up again, this time on a penalty kill, as Kiefiuk redirected a pass from Elser past Patera for the go-ahead tally with 2:36 left in the frame.

Slaggert tied the game four minutes into the third, setting the stage for Timmons' winner.
