DUBUQUE, Iowa — Max Andreev remained hot for the Central Illinois Flying Aces, but the team dropped its third straight decision Friday as Jan Kern and Quinn Preston boosted the Dubuque Fighting Saints to a 5-2 victory at the Mystique Ice Center.

Andreev extended his point streak to six games with an unassisted tying goal in the first minute of the third period. But Kern put Dubuque back in front with 10 minutes to play. Preston then scored his second goal of the night with less than two minutes left, then assisted an empty netter by Brendan Bushy.

The Aces, who fell to 3-3-0, opened the scoring two minutes into the second on Jakub Lacka's fourth goal of the season. But Preston tied it four minutes later and Tyce Thompson's power play tally off a Preston assist put the Saints ahead with 1:45 left.

Kris Carlson stopped 30 shots for the Aces, who came up empty on four power play chances, all in the first period. Jaxon Castor made 25 stops for Dubuque (2-3-1).

The teams conclude their two-game series Saturday with a 3:07 p.m. rematch at Peoria's Carver Arena. Central Illinois then welcomes Waterloo to Peoria for a 4:07 p.m. faceoff Sunday.
