PLYMOUTH, Mich. — Ryder Rolston scored twice as Team USA closed the second period with four unanswered goals Saturday on the way to a 7-4 win over the Central Illinois Flying Aces at USA Hockey Arena.
Jakub Lacka scored twice while Jamie Armstrong and Alex Barber added a goal apiece for the Aces, who fell to 12-29-5 as their winless streak reached 12 games. Their last victory was a 2-0 decision at Tri-City on Jan. 26.
Armstrong pulled Central Illinois within one 14 minutes into the first, just 45 seconds after Erik Middendorf staked USA to a 2-0 lead.
Lacka made it 3-2 with his first goal less than seven minutes into the second, just 19 seconds after a Domenick Fensore goal for USA. But Rolston netted his first goal a half-minute after that and USA scores three times in a four-minute span before the period ended.
Lacka got his second goal 7½ minutes into the third, giving him a team-high 15 for the season and Barber tacked on another tally with 4:27 left.
Zach Stejskal made 21 saves in 36 minutes for the Aces while Ryan Snowden notched 12 stops in relief.
Central Illinois completes its three-game weekend with a 3:05 p.m. game at Chicago.
