YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — Matt Gosiewski had two goals and two assists as the Central Illinois Flying Aces completed a weekend sweep of the Youngstown Phantoms with a 5-1 win on Sunday at Covelli Centre.
Youngstown struck first when Curtis Hall beat Central Illinois goalie Kris Carlson at 10:34 of the opening period to give the Phantoms a 1-0 lead.
The Aces responded just 32 seconds later on Drew Elser's second goal of the season, assisted by Gosiewski. Gosiewski made it 2-1 Central Illinois at 17:37 off a feed from Max Andreev.
Gosiewski made it 3-1 at 3:52 of the second period with the Aces on the power play. Calen Kiefiuk was credited with the lone assist.
Goseiwski then set up Andreev for his first goal of the season at 11:31 of the second to up the margin to 4-1 after two periods.
Jakub Lacka closed out the scoring with a power-play goal at 3:45 of the third, assisted by Sebastian Dirven and Charlie Raith.
Central Illinois outshot Youngstown, 35-25, with Carlson making 24 saves in the victory.
