CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Calen Kiefiuk netted a tiebreaking power play goal in the third period to give the Central Illinois Flying Aces a 3-2 preseason win over Madison on Saturday at the USHL Fall Classic.
Zach Stejskal made 18 saves while Regen Cavanagh and Will Garin scored in the second period for Central Illinois, which bounced back from Friday's 5-2 loss to the Team USA under-18 squad.
Madison held a 1-0 lead at the first intermission on Mick Messner's goal four minutes before the break. Cavanagh tied it with a shorthanded tally off an assist from Drew Elser 38 seconds into the second.
Cade Borchardt put the Capitols back ahead two minutes later, but Garin converted a feed from Michael Callahan at 12:17 to square the contest again.
Dryden McKay made 20 saves for Madison. The Aces converted once on their five power plays and killed off all seven of the Capitols' advantages.
Central Illinois wraps up its run in the Fall Classic on Sunday morning against Tri-City before opening the regular season Saturday at Youngstown.
