BLOOMINGTON — The Bloomington Thunder posted a wire-to-wire 4-1 United States Hockey League win over Team USA on Sunday at U.S. Cellular Coliseum.

The Thunder (21-23-4-3, 49 points) extended their current point streak to five games.

Alec Mehr opened the scoring with a power play goal, his 12th tally of the season, at 6:51 of the first period. Griffin Lunn and Zachary Mirageas were credited with the assists.

Wyatt Kalynuk netted his sixth of the season at 3:02 of the second period off an assist from Logan Halladay, his second of the year, to make it a 2-0 Bloomington lead.

After Team USA cut the Thunder margin to 2-1 on a goal by Jonathan Gruden at 15:45, Vladislav Dzhioshvili again made it a two-goal game when he scored his 19th of the year at 17:46 assisted by August Von Ungern-Sternberg.

Bloomington native Brady Smith closed out the scoring at 17:33 of the final period. Assists on Smith's second of the season came from Christiano Versich and Cameron Burke.

Bloomington outshot Team USA, 38-20, while also holding the opponents scoreless on five power play opportunities. Halladay turned aside 19 of 20 shots for his 13th win of the season and has yielded two goals or less over his last five starts.

The Thunder travel to Lincoln, Neb., to face the Stars on Friday and Saturday night.
