5 years ago (2012): Rachel Amundson had 12 kills and Madison Moser added 14 assists in Normal West’s 17-25, 25-20, 25-23 loss at Springfield. Tyler Brown chipped in 17 digs and 18 service points for the Wildcats, who fell to 8-1-1 on the season.

15 years ago (2002): Marisa Milligan fired an 82 to win the Intercity Girls Golf Tournament with a 36-hole total of 161. While earning medalist honors, the sophomore sparked University High to its sixth consecutive Intercity championship, besting second place Normal Community by 36 shots.

25 years ago (1992): Freshman Ryan Goodman had a hat trick and the Illinois Wesleyan defense limited Franklin (Ind.) College to no shots on goal as the Titans cruised to a 6-0 soccer victory in Bloomington. Ben Schnatterly and Jason Calianto combined in goal for the shutout.

50 years ago (1967): Senior Jim Bowers and junior Jim Trefzger placed first and second, respectively, to lead Bloomington’s cross country team to a season-opening 24-31 victory over Morton in a dual meet at BHS. Bowers finished the two-mile course in 9 minutes, 45 seconds.
