15 years ago (2003): Bob McNamara provided the power and Joshua Kauten added finesse as Illinois State’s baseball team defeated Murray State, 9-3. McNamara went 2-3 with a home run, triple and four RBIs and Kauten allowed just one hit over the first seven innings.
25 years ago (1993): Gridley forced five Clinton turnovers in the final five minutes of the third quarter, sparking a 13-4 run that broke open a close game and sent the state-ranked Redskins to a 68-49 victory in the semifinals of the Class A Fieldcrest Sectional. Matt Jenkins led Gridley with 15 points and nine rebounds.
50 years ago (1968): Bloomington boys basketball coach Carroll Wood announced his intention to be removed from his coaching duties at the conclusion of the present school year due to “the increased physical demands of coaching varsity basketball.” Wood will continue as varsity baseball coach.
