5 years ago (2012): Illinois State senior women’s basketball player Jamie Russell was added to the 2013 Final Four Watch List, as announced by Overseas Basketball Combines. The list is made up of seniors eligible for the WNBA draft at the end of the season.

15 years ago (2002): After cruising through game one, 15-4, Normal Community rallied from a 15-14 deficit for a 17-15 decision and a two-set victory in the Class AA Galesburg Sectional championship. “We’re a pretty composed team for as young as we are,” NCHS coach Lois Wisniewski said.

25 years ago (1992): Scot Grunloh carried a season-high 44 times for 172 yards as Lexington controlled the ball for over 33 minutes in a 21-13 victory over Villa Grove in a second-round Class 1A playoff game at Villa Grove.

50 years ago (1967): Jim Jumper scored two touchdowns to lead the Normal Mites’ heavyweight football team to a 19-6 victory over the Bloomington Knockers. Normal ended its season with an 11-0 record. Rick Sylvester also scored for the winners, while Dean Clark counted the Knockers only touchdown.
