5 years ago (2012): Normal Community girls tennis coach Jim Boswell earned his 100th career victory when the Iron defeated host Bloomington, 9-0. NCHS improved to 6-1 on the season and pushed Boswell’s career mark to 100-48.

15 years ago (2002): Truman State quarterback Dusty Burk, a transfer from Illinois State, was named the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Offensive Player of the Week. Burk had 411 yards of total offense as Truman State defeated Drake, 38-14.

25 years ago (1992): Bloomington quarterback Billy Dicken hit Marquis Mosely in stride with a 57-yard touchdown on the game’s first play. That set the tone for the Purple Raiders in a 34-0 victory over Normal Community in the 20th annual Intercity Doubleheader at Hancock Stadium.

50 years ago (1967): Roy Glen Shadoan and Robert Quiggins, both of Bloomington, won Illinois-Indiana-State motorcycle championships in Fisher. Shadoan, 17, won the lightweight division title while Quiggins captured the heavyweight title. The races were sponsored by the Champaign-Urbana Motorcycle Club.
