5 years ago (2012): The No. 8-state ranked Tri-Valley girls cross country team won its first regional since 1993 by scoring 51 points in the Class 1A Farmington Regional. The Vikings were led by a fifth-place finish by Jess Clarke on the 2.95-mile course in 18 minutes, 6 seconds.

15 years ago (2002): Illinois Wesleyan running back Chris Ross was given a share of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Offensive Player of the Week award, marking the third time this season he has been honored. Ross rushed for 238 yards and two touchdowns in the Titans’ 33-24 victory over North Central.

25 years ago (1992): Illinois State sophomore forward Dan Beck has been named Missouri Valley Conference Soccer Offensive Player of the Week. Beck scored a hat trick in the Redbirds’ 5-3 victory over Bradley.

50 years ago (1967): Fairbury-Cropsey’s alert defense and Mark Yergler’s passing led Fairbury-Cropsey to a 32-6 win over Saybrook-Arrowsmith in a nonconference game. Yergler three touchdown passes of 25 and 20 yards and scored on a 35-yard return of an intercepted pass.
