15 years ago (2002): Led by Zach Gilmore’s two-goal, two-assist performance, Bloomington took on frigid conditions and handled Champaign Central, 5-0, in the second round of the Normal Community Regional.

25 years ago (1992): Former Illinois State baseball coach Harold E. Frye Sr. has died. Frye was head baseball coach at ISU from 1947 through 1963. He compiled a 224-207 record in 17 seasons, including three straight Interstate Intercollegiate Athletic Conference titles from ’54-56.

50 years ago (1967): Senior halfback Curt Christenson scored three touchdowns as Dwight clinched at least a share of the North East Conference football championship by crushing Plano, 46-12. Unbeaten Dwight was in control from the moment Christenson returned the opening kickoff 86 yards for a touchdown.
