5 years ago (2012): Illinois State sophomore forward Rachel Tejada and senior back Kristin Cooley were All-Great Lakes Region selections named by the National Soccer Coaches Association (NSCAA). Tejada was a second-team pick and Cooley was named to the third team.

15 years ago (2002): Former Bloomington High School basketball coach Loren Wallace was suspended from coaching at any IHSA school for one year for recruiting violations. Wallace is currently the head basketball coach at Quincy.

25 years ago (1992): Illinois State junior Michelle Rucker led the Redbirds to an opening-round volleyball victory over Houston in the NCAA Northwest Regional Tournament with a career-high 23 kills. ISU won in three sets, 15-12, 15-9 and 15-13, at Redbird Arena.

50 years ago (1967): Rich Thompson dumped in 38 points and led University High’s freshman basketball team to a 77-70 victory over Pontiac’s freshman squad at the U High gymnasium. Selby Hubbard added 18 points for U High.
