5 years ago (2012): Kenton Carr and Ted Schmitz will remain with the Bloomington Edge indoor football team as it moves into the Champions Professional Indoor Football League. Carr will return as head coach and Schmitz will serve as assistant coach and director of recruiting.

15 years ago (2002): Illinois State senior soccer player Melissa Colthrust, who anchored a Redbird defense that posted the lowest goals-against average in the league and recorded eight shutouts, has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Year.

25 years ago (1992): Illinois Wesleyan quarterback Tom Monken and free safety D.J. Rossini have been selected the Players of the Week by the CCIW. Monken threw for 359 yards and three touchdowns, and Rossini had two interceptions in the Titans 24-13 victory over Millikin.

50 years ago (1967): Brad Mitchell proved of double value to Bloomington’s football team in its mud-marked 17-6 victory at Mattoon. In addition to handling the kicking duties, Mitchell’s blocking at right guard drew praise from Coach Boice Bess.
