5 years ago (2012): Illinois State forward Rachel Tejada is the Missouri Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Week for women’s soccer for the fourth time this season. Tejada had her 11th multi-point performance with a goal and an assist in a 2-1 victory at Drake.
15 years ago (2002): Samantha Conrady finished with a game-high eight service points, including four aces, as regional host Lincoln defeated Decatur MacArthur, 15-4, 15-8, to advance to the championship match. Lincoln’s Brooklyn Robbins tallied 13 assists, three digs, two aces and three blocks.
25 years ago (1992): Junior quarterback Reggie Kennedy threw for two touchdowns and ran for two more to lead Pontiac past Peru St. Bede in a Corn Belt Conference game. Kennedy scored on runs of 1 and 5 yards, and connected with Chris Thompson on touchdown passes of 33 and 25 yards.
50 years ago (1967): University High’s freshman-sophomore football team finished an undefeated season with a 20-7 victory over Morton’s freshman-sophomore team. Pioneers coach Jim Scott cited the line play of guard Andre Sorrell and ends Russell Woods and Joe Wilkins as outstanding.
