15 years ago (2003): Central Catholic stepped to a fast start and held off a gutty effort by Chenoa to claim a 51-38 Senior Night victory before a capacity crowd in the final game at the John R. Snyder Gymnasium, nicknamed “The Pit.” The Saints will be moving to a new building on Bloomington’s east side next fall.
25 years ago (1993): Stacey Mackey scored a career-high 29 points as Normal Community (21-1) blitzed Champaign Centennial, 90-53, for the Class AA regional title. Senior Jill Shoemaker added 17 points, while sophomore Jenny Schmidt scored 16 points and junior Emily Starkey 11.
50 years ago (1968): The Bloomington-Normal Swim Club’s Tami Sharp took three third places in the Sheridan Indoor AAU Invitational Swim Meet in Quincy. Sharp was competing in the girls 10-and-under division. Thirty-five teams from five states were represented.
