EUREKA - The county board again postponed discussion at their Jan. 16 meeting on a memorandum of understanding to reconfigure membership in the Tri-County Planning Commission.
“We’d kind of like to see how things play out and see what the municipalities do,” board member Bryant Kempf said.
The board began reviewing the memorandum last month and at the committee level, but ended up postponing action, citing a need for more information. The proposal exchanges county membership in the organization with a combination of county and municipal representation.
During budget discussions in October, the board did not appropriate line item funding to be a member of the Tri-County organization, which includes Peoria, Tazewell and Woodford. Five mayors from the municipalities of Germantown Hills, Metamora, Eureka, Roanoke, El Paso and Minonk let the board know they believe membership in Tri-County is valuable and support continuing it.
