EUREKA - A group of around 25 county residents met at The Gathering Place at Maple Lawn Monday night to discuss the possibility of building an indoor pool somewhere within the county boundaries.
There had been one on the Eureka College campus, Reagan Pool, but it closed this past summer as part of a renovation project. While it was open, the pool was used for swim lessons, water aerobic classes, the Eureka Area Swim Team summer program and for practices and meets for the Metamora/El Paso-Gridley/Eureka/Roanoke-Benson swim co-op.
The meeting was held in order to gather information, assess interest and begin the process of forming a non-profit board. Those in attendance included parents of swimmers, participants in aerobics classes and other interested parties. Towns represented included El Paso, Eureka and Metamora.
