CONGERVILLE – Clyde Richard Knapp, 89, of Bloomfield, Iowa, died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2018, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.
He was born March 26, 1928, in Congerville, the son of Fredrick and Leila Reeser Knapp. He married Leanna Garber on Jan. 23, 1949, at the Eureka Christian Church in Eureka. She survives.
Other survivors include four sons, Gary (Dianne) Knapp, Roger (Debra) Knapp, Bruce (Jeri) Knapp and Eric (Susan) Knapp, all of Bloomfield; four daughters, Sandra (Dean) Amstutz and Gail (Keith) Amstutz, both of Bloomfield, Judy (Ralph) Marten, Elmira, Ontario, Canada, and Brenda (Patrick) Schmidt, Omaha, Neb.; 21 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; five brothers, Fredrick (Marge) Knapp, Roanoke, Loren (Joan) Knapp, Robert (Jean) Knapp, Gerald (Nancy) Knapp, all of Eureka, and Kenneth (Phyllis) Knapp, Palmyra, Mo.; one sister, Mary Steffen, Eureka and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Wilbur Knapp and Maurice Knapp, two sisters, Lucille Blunier and Kathryn Funk, and a third sister in infancy.
Clyde graduated from Eureka High School in 1946. He was a lifetime farmer and outdoor enthusiast. He loved fishing and hunting with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Clyde was an active and faithful member of Pulaski Mennonite Church, Bloomfield.
Services were held Jan. 13 at the church. The Rev. Darrell Zook officiated. Visitation was Jan. 12 at Wagler Funeral Home, Bloomfield. Burial was in the church cemetery.
