ROANOKE – Delores C. Wagner, 87, formerly of Roanoke, died Monday, Dec. 4, 2017, at her home in Peoria Heights surrounded by her family.
She was born Jan. 15, 1930, in Peoria, the daughter of George and Elsie Whitfield Sommers. She married Victor Henry Wagner on Jan. 19, 1947, in Peoria. He died Jan. 26, 2015.
Survivors include six sons, Rick Wagner, Peoria Heights, Daryl (Carol) Wagner, Chillicothe, Jeff (Vicki) Wagner, and Nathan (Michelle) Wagner, both of Peoria, Robert (VaNessa) Wagner, Tremont and Roger (Damara) Wagner, Germantown Hills; 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, one daughter, one grandson and two sisters.
Delores went back to school after her children grew up and earned an associate’s degree in business administration from Illinois Central College, East Peoria. She then went to work in data entry for Nussbaum Transportation, Normal. Delores was also heavily involved with the Civil Air Patrol during the 1960’s and 1970’s with her husband. The couple moved to Columbia, Mo., in the early 1980’s where she worked in data entry for the accounting firm of Williams-Keepers Accounting, LLC, and later for Affiliated, Inc., a multi-state property management company as a property manager, as her husband worked as their maintenance engineer. He worked on several commercial properties in Columbia. They had a deep love for each other, their family and friends. The couple shared a great life together and eventually a small grocery business, M & M Grocery, in New Windsor for several years before they moved back to the Peoria area. She always kept active, involved with her family and all sorts of activities.
Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Knapp-Johnson-Harris Funeral Home in Roanoke. Visitation will take place Saturday morning from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service in Secor Cemetery, Secor, where she will be laid to rest alongside her husband.
